TRAINING SCHEME
The HKIE Training Scheme
This three-year course, approved by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), covers the key engineering disciplines including design, tendering, cost control and quality assurance in both building and civil works.
Over the duration of the course, trainees are assigned to different departments and projects, where their work is supervised by a training tutor.
Potential trainees are recruited annually via career talks at the University of Hong Kong, the University of Science & Technology and Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The training is divided into four parts:
- Introduction to the company
- General skills, such as financial forecasting, budgeting & cost control, conditions of contract, computer techniques and statutory requirements affecting projects
- On-the-job experience in the Design, Methods and Tendering departments in Dragages' Head Office
- Work experience on site
