Dragages Hong Kong Limited won from CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) a contract to design and construct two cable crossings at Pui O. The scope of works comprises the design and construction of two 660 mm diameter x 330m long cable crossings between a campsite at Pui O Beach and the presently under construction Chi Ma Wan Cable Tunnel. Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technology will be used to drill these crossings starting at the Pui O side where the entry pit will be located. The cable ducts are expected to pass through the Tolo Fault midway at a depth of 30 metres and will exit and connect into the Chi Ma Wan Cable Tunnel. This project is an integral part to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the electricity transmission network which supplies 45,000 customers in South Lantau and Cheung Chau.
